Bitcoin Self-Custody Hits Historic Low Amid ETP and ETF Surge
Bitcoin self-custody rates have reached an all-time low of approximately 49%, down from 78% in late 2022, according to Glassnode data cited by Bitcoin Magazine.
This marks a historic first for the cryptocurrency, with many wondering where the self-custody has gone. One possible explanation lies in the growing popularity of spot Bitcoin ETPs and ETFs, which collectively hold around 1.3 million BTC, representing about 6.4% of the total circulating supply.
Public corporations have also entered the scene, holding more than 1 million BTC across various entities, each with holdings of at least 1,000 BTC.
