Bitcoin Shrugs Off Fed Rate Hike as Markets Digest Tightening Signals
Bitcoin held steady near its pre-announcement price levels after the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points to a target range of 3.75% to 4%, according to market data.
The move was largely anticipated, with analysts suggesting that crypto markets had already priced in the decision. Cooper Duschang, a research analyst at Talos, stated that 'the initial reaction suggests the Fed's decision was largely anticipated by crypto markets.'
Despite the rate hike, Bitcoin's price remained relatively resilient, trading around $76,663 at the time of writing, up about 1.35% over 24 hours.
However, spot and derivatives data told a more mixed story, with net selling in perpetual futures partially offset by net spot buying.
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized that inflation remains too high, while the US economy appears to be strengthening, setting the stage for potential further tightening ahead.
