Bitcoin Slumps on Failing Regulatory Bill
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) suffered losses of up to 4.9% on Tuesday following the failure of the Clarity Act to advance in the Senate.
The bill aimed to clarify regulatory guidelines for cryptocurrencies, but it did not receive enough votes in a procedural vote held earlier that day.
Vladimir Tikhomirov, an analyst at Algebra, stated that 'the lack of clear regulations is a major obstacle for the adoption and growth of cryptocurrencies.'
The market's reaction to the Clarity Act's setback is not surprising given the importance of regulatory clarity for the crypto industry.
