Bitcoin Soars Above $73,000 as Asian Crypto Stocks Rally
Asian crypto-linked stocks surged on Friday as Bitcoin rebounded sharply to a three-month high above $73,000. The rally was fueled by renewed optimism over U.S. crypto regulation after President Trump's call for Congress to pass a 'fair version' of the Clarity Act.
The act would establish clearer regulatory definitions for cryptocurrencies and determine the oversight roles of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Bitcoin climbed to as high as $75,591.6 on Friday, reaching its highest since late May. It last traded nearly 8% higher at $75,001.6 by 04:59 GMT.
Crypto-linked equities across Asia also rose, with shares of Japanese bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet Inc (TYO:3350) surging more than 20% to hit three-month highs. Hong Kong-listed Boyaa Interactive International (HK:0434) shares climbed 17%, while Japan's Remixpoint (TYO:3825) and Monex Group (TYO:8698) added 4.5% and 2%, respectively.
