Bitcoin Soars Above $80,000 as US Debt Surges and Crypto Market Rally Continues
The cryptocurrency market has seen a significant rally, with Bitcoin and top altcoins like Ethena (ENA), Injective (INJ), and VeChain (VET) rising by double digits. The total market capitalization of all coins jumped by 4% in the last 24 hours to $2.78 trillion.
One key reason behind this rally is Bitcoin's strong comeback, moving above the key resistance level of $80,000. This surge is largely driven by its role as a safe-haven asset amid the ongoing US public debt surge, which has reached $40 trillion and continues to rise.
Bitcoin's unique characteristics make it an attractive safe-haven asset, including its supply cap of 21 million coins and the fact that it has never been hacked in its 17-year history. Some investors view it as the digital version of gold.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index remains in the greed zone at 73, indicating a risk-on sentiment in the market. Investors often pile into digital coins when this index is high, which has happened for over a month now, the longest streak this year.
