Bitcoin Soars Above $85,000 as Improved Regulatory Conditions Spark Bull Market Hopes
Bitcoin has regained some of its lost ground after a difficult year, climbing above $85,070 and nearing an eight-month high. Despite the challenging environment, which saw investors move to other assets, soaring bond yields, and a regulatory backdrop that was not favorable for crypto earlier this year, Bitcoin has clawed back much of its losses.
The token's resurgence comes after a period where it struggled, with some attributing its decline to the allure of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. However, analysts believe that the regulatory environment is now more conducive to growth, citing the appointment of pro-crypto regulators by President Donald Trump and the creation of a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan told CNBC that he suspects prices will catch up with fundamentals towards the end of the year, potentially leading to a strong and long-running bull market in crypto's history. Analysts at BTIG believe that if Bitcoin can hold above $75,000, it could push through to $82,000 on its way to $90,000.
While some experts are bullish about the future of crypto, others remain skeptical. The Motley Fool analyst team did not include Bitcoin in their list of top 10 stocks for investors to buy now, citing concerns about valuing cryptocurrencies like traditional stocks due to their lack of earnings and free cash flow.
