Bitcoin Soars as Investors Flee Dollar Amid US Debt Crisis
Investors are increasingly treating Bitcoin (BTC) as a hedge against currency debasement rather than a bet on US policy outcomes. According to Michael Bucella, co-founder of Neoclassic Capital, this shift is driven by the growing national debt in the US, which has surpassed $40 trillion.
Bucella pointed out that despite the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act's failure to advance in the Senate, Bitcoin and Ether (ETH) ETFs saw a brief but significant influx of funds after the bill stalled. This suggests that investors are prioritizing their risk management strategies over waiting for regulatory clarity.
In a conversation with friends in Switzerland, Bucella was told that holding scarce assets such as gold, the Swiss franc, and Bitcoin made more sense than waiting on legislation. 'The franc is strong, gold is strong, Bitcoin is strong,' one of them said.
While acknowledging that Bitcoin remains a risk asset, Bucella emphasized that its price will continue to be shaped by macro conditions alongside the debasement narrative.
