Bitcoin Soars Past $86K as FOMO Hits Two-Year High
Bitcoin (BTC) has been on a tear, surging to exchange hands at $86,447 after a 6.42% gain in a day and a 10.42% increase over the last month. The asset's short liquidations have mounted to $556 million as it maintains its momentum above the influential $80,000 mark.
Crypto analytics platform Santiment points out that Bitcoin's FOMO (fear of missing out) has hit levels not seen since December 2024, when the BTC price peaked at $108,000. This was followed by a historic peak in October 2025 at $126,000.
The combined trading volume of Bitcoin recently spiked by 39%, and despite massive shorts, open interest rose 9.38% to reach $61.33 billion. Corporations have also stepped up their buys, with Strategy acquiring 950 BTC, while ETF net flows turned positive at $317.10 million as of September 21.
Falling bond yields and cooking oil prices may be contributing to the market's cautious optimism. Analyst Ben Cowen recently shifted his bearish stance on X, where he was welcomed by Strategy Executive Chairman Saylor and analyst Michale van de Poppe.
