Bitcoin Soars to $1M if AI Bubble Bursts, Says BitMEX Co-Founder
Analyst Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, believes that Bitcoin's price could surpass $1 million if the current AI investment boom collapses. According to Hayes, the funds concentrated in the AI industry are excessive and will trigger a credit crisis when they can no longer be sustained. This crisis would lead to a massive liquidity injection by governments and central banks, which would ultimately benefit Bitcoin.
Hayes notes that the investment in AI data centers and power infrastructure resembles real estate development, relying on enormous borrowing. As the pace of investment growth slows, related credit could deteriorate rapidly, causing financial institutions' loan assets to sour, similar to the 2008 financial crisis. Hayes warns that this bubble has the character of a credit bubble rather than the 2000 dot-com bubble.
The analyst predicts that side effects from overinvestment will emerge in earnest in 2028. When the AI bubble bursts, governments and central banks will intervene to save AI companies and the financial sector that have taken on excessive debt, diluting the dollar's value and expanding market liquidity. In this process, Bitcoin will be the asset that responds first.
