Bitcoin Spot Trading Volume Plummets 75% Since Late 2024
The Bitcoin spot trading volume on major cryptocurrency exchanges has plummeted over 75% from late 2024, reaching its lowest level since the latter stages of the 2023 bear market.
Binance's Bitcoin spot trading volume this month fell to $35 billion, down from a high of $246 billion in November 2024. Bybit's trading volume dropped by an even more significant margin at 85%, followed closely by Coinbase and OKX with declines of 61% and 67%, respectively.
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost attributed the decline in speculative assets to escalating US-Iran tensions, concerns over higher interest rates driven by inflation, and a shift of liquidity into the stock market. To return to an uptrend, Bitcoin will need a change in the macroeconomic environment and a recovery in market demand.
