Bitcoin Stalls Below $78,000 as Strong Demand Meets Rising Volatility
The price of Bitcoin has stalled below $78,000 after a sharp move higher. Despite this, strong demand from spot ETFs has helped support the market. Over four days, these ETFs bought $1.61 billion in BTC.
A total of $307 million flowed into spot Bitcoin ETFs on August 21 alone. This is part of a five-day streak of net inflows. While some long-term holders are selling at a loss, with an average loss of 20%, the supply from these sales has been absorbed by fresh demand.
However, market analyst Darkfost warns that rising volatility could lead to more swings in price. This is due to the large amount of liquidity sitting below the current market level. With over $1.6 billion liquidated in a 24-hour period, including about $866 million in long positions and $797 million in short positions, the market is showing signs of stronger price swings.
