Bitcoin Stuck at $80K as Hawkish Fed and Regulatory Uncertainty Weigh

Bitcoin has been struggling to break above $80,000, a level that market analysts see as a critical resistance point for the cryptocurrency. According to CoinShares Head of Research James Butterfill, Bitcoin's ability to sustain a rise above this level is becoming more difficult due to the Fed's more hawkish monetary policy and recent negative developments regarding the Clarity Act.

The two major obstacles in the short term are 'A more hawkish Fed and setbacks in the Clarity Act,' according to Butterfill. He believes that unless there is a significant improvement in the inflation outlook or a major shift in expectations regarding Fed monetary policy, a definitive breakout above $80,000 for Bitcoin is unlikely.

Glassnode also analyzed the situation, stating that $80,000 is the first critical threshold for Bitcoin. The firm noted that this level needs to be surpassed by Bitcoin in order to re-enter an upward trend and surpass the actual market average. Furthermore, Glassnode highlighted the next key area around $85,000, which is the cost floor of a US spot Bitcoin ETF.
