The Strait of Hormuz situation in the Middle East had cooled down after Iranian officials played down expectations that the waterway would quickly reopen, resulting in a lack of clear impetus to reprice macro risk aggressively.
US services PMI and employment data released on Wednesday pointed to 'stagflation' risks, with prices paid rising while employment conditions deteriorated. The result has been a familiar kind of indecision for Bitcoin.
Glassnode characterized the current market as 'boredom rather than capitulation,' suggesting conditions may be building for a turn but are not complete. Bitfinex Research argued that a genuine breakdown has not yet appeared, as a stronger macro trigger and volume-supported follow-through are still missing.
