Bitcoin Stuck Below $80,000 Amid Regulatory Hopes

The Bitcoin rally appears to have lost steam after failing to break above $80,000 since its mid-August surge. The cryptocurrency rose around 25% to $80,000 from August 19 to 25, but has since pulled back to around $77,850 on Monday.

Analysts point out that the lack of progress in breaching the $80,000 level is causing investors to question whether the rally has fizzled out. At this moment, many are seeing the $80,000 level as an opportunity to sell, according to Stephen Coltman, head of macro at 21Shares.

The Treasury's willingness to countenance a weakened dollar and changing regulatory winds could potentially spur Bitcoin and its peers higher, analysts say. However, market watchers are cautious about legislative wins for the industry, with the Senate set to hold a key procedural vote on the Clarity Act this week.
