Bitcoin Stuck in Limbo at $64,500 as Geopolitical Tensions Mount
Bitcoin's price has stabilized at $64,500 over the past 24 hours, largely unchanged from yesterday. This comes after a volatile stretch that saw prices dip towards the low-$60k zone.
The Federal Reserve's decision to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 3.50%, 3.75%, with three officials dissenting in favor of a quarter-point hike, has added uncertainty to the market. Geopolitical risk remains high due to ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, as well as joint operations in Iraq.
The 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) sits at $64,917, acting as near-term resistance for Bitcoin. The broader technical tone remains bearish, with both the 100-day EMA ($67,527) and 200-day EMA ($73,341) well above current prices.
Three scenarios are possible: a bull case where ETF inflows accelerate and macro fears ease, allowing Bitcoin to clear the 50-day EMA and target $67,500; a base case of continued consolidation in the $62k, $65k band as traders wait on clearer Fed signals and inflation data; or a bear/invalidation scenario where a sustained break below $61,977 reopens the $60,000 test.
