Bitcoin Suisse Axes Half Its Swiss Workforce Amid Global Expansion
Bitcoin Suisse is undergoing a major restructuring, cutting up to half of its Swiss workforce in an effort to reduce costs and expand internationally. The company's Group CEO and co-founder Andrej Majcen stated that the move is driven by a long-term strategy rather than market volatility.
As part of this shift, Bitcoin Suisse plans to relocate a significant share of its back-office and administrative operations from Switzerland to lower-cost hubs in Bratislava, Slovakia, and Vietnam. This move aims to reduce costs while supporting the company's growth into an international asset management provider catering to wealthy private clients, family offices, and institutional investors.
The firm has secured several international licenses this year, including a MiCAR license for its Liechtenstein subsidiary, which allows it to operate across the European Economic Area via regulatory passporting. Bitcoin Suisse has also secured approvals for digital asset and investment activities in Bermuda as well as full regulatory approval from financial authorities in Abu Dhabi.
The company's headquarters will remain in Zug, Switzerland, but the firm plans to maintain a significant presence in its home country through client-facing teams.
