Bitcoin Supply Will Outstrip Millionaire Demand by 2026
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has made a prediction about Bitcoin's limited supply, stating that soon there won't be enough $BTC for millionaires. According to CZ, as of August 2026, the amount of Bitcoin mined will have exceeded 20.07 million, and only 4.4% of the total supply of 21 million is yet to be mined.
This means that while there are approximately 23.6 million millionaires in the US, the number of $BTC in circulation will soon be a limiting factor. CZ estimates that 10 to 20 percent of existing Bitcoins are lost, inaccessible, or unrecoverable, making Bitcoin a deflationary asset.
CZ also noted that many long-term $BTC holders are unwilling to sell their assets, and Satoshi Nakamoto's $BTC holdings are unlikely to move again. This has led CZ to suggest that the actual usable coin supply may be much less than 21 million.
