Bitcoin Surges 10,000-Fold Since 2011 Crash, Hits New Price Milestone
Bitcoin's transformation from a risk-driven asset to an institutional investment has been remarkable. Since its peak in 2011, when it crashed from $31.91 to $7.97, the cryptocurrency has grown almost 10,000 times in price, reaching around $79,500 by 2026.
This growth coincided with four supply halvings that reduced miner rewards by over 90%, the rise of institutional investment, and the development of regulated ETFs holding over $103 billion in assets. The cryptocurrency's journey has been marked by significant volatility, with prices fluctuating wildly.
Today, Bitcoin holds steady above $80,000, while altcoins like NEAR and DASH experience notable gains of 12.03% and 24.48%, respectively. Despite a recent dip below $80,000, traders remain bullish, predicting a potential rise to $85,000 by September's end.
Bitcoin has surged about 40% from its July low near $57,700 to trade around $79,000-$81,000 in early September, driven by institutional ETF inflows and favorable macroeconomic conditions. However, the cryptocurrency's growth is not without uncertainty, with a 51% probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike affecting market sentiment.
