Bitcoin Surges 25% in August to New Heights
Bitcoin's price surged by nearly 25% in August, reaching $80,000 from its previous level of around $64,000. This significant increase marked Bitcoin's best August performance since 2021.
The rally coincided with record retail deposit inflows on the Gate.io exchange, peaking at $11.33 million in a single hour on August 29. Analysts suggest that these inflows were driven by a mix of profit-taking, capital rotation, and trading preparation, rather than just sell pressure.
TD Cowen analyst Lance Vitanza has revised Bitcoin's year-end price target to $97,500, implying a 25% upside from recent levels around $78,000. This is a significant downgrade from previous forecasts that expected Bitcoin to reach over $140,000 by the end of 2026.
