Bitcoin Surges 7% in September, Outpacing Stocks and Gold
In September 2026, Bitcoin outperformed major financial assets, including stocks and gold. According to Santiment, the price of Bitcoin increased by approximately 7% during the month.
The American S&P 500 index remained virtually unchanged, while gold fell by more than 6%. This strong performance in the crypto market can be attributed to macroeconomic factors and ETFs.
A significant portion of the altcoin market also joined the recovery, indicating a return of capital to the cryptocurrency sector. One of the drivers of growth was record inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., which attracted billions of dollars in September.
Santiment analysts note that the positive macroeconomic situation contributed to the growth of the crypto market. The temporary decrease in U.S. Treasury yields and reduced expectations for another rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve created a favorable environment for cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin.
