Bitcoin Surges Above $80,000 as Analysts Weigh Rate Hike Impact
Bitcoin has regained its position above $80,000 (approximately 114 million won) this month. Despite concerns about inflation and interest rate hikes, some analysts believe that higher rates could actually be positive for store-of-value assets like crypto.
Fabian Dori, chief investment officer at Sygnum Bank, noted that if higher rates reflect concerns about currency debasement, they could be beneficial for digital assets. This is because crypto doesn't necessarily need rates to fall in order to rally.
The current market dynamics are being closely watched, particularly the flow picture of spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $3.52 billion in net inflows in August, but this trend may not continue as outflows were seen just a few days later.
