Bitcoin Surges Above $80,000 as US Treasury Intervenes in Bond Market
The price of Bitcoin has broken above $80,000 as investors continue to ride the wave of risk-on sentiment in the broader market. The US Treasury's efforts to combat high yields in the long-dated bond market may be contributing to the rally, with some analysts suggesting further interventions on the horizon.
Aerodrome Finance and Virtuals Protocol emerged as top performers over the last 24 hours, with Aerodrome up 2% and Virtuals rising nearly 3%. The two DeFi tokens are showing signs of strong upside momentum, with their respective RSI and MACD indicators in positive territory.
The US Treasury may consider selling short-term debt, eliminating long-dated bonds, and other measures to lower yields, according to a report by the Kobeissi Letter. Martin Tobias, a US interest-rate strategist, noted that officials are exploring ways to use surplus cash, with Morgan Stanley estimating up to $200 billion available for larger buybacks.
The technical outlook suggests that Bitcoin may continue its rally, potentially reaching a target of $91,374 as it inches towards the May 6 high at $82,850. However, caution is warranted due to overbought conditions and potential corrective pullbacks.
