Bitcoin Surges Above $85,000 Amid Regulatory Clarity
Bitcoin has surpassed $85,000 in value for the first time in months. According to the Nasdaq Bitcoin Reference Price Index, the cryptocurrency rose by over 5% on Monday, reaching a new high of 85,455.85. This significant increase marks a gain of more than 4,200 points from its previous close of 81,236.39.
The rise comes amid developments in US digital-asset regulation. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed new rules that would create a tailored offering regime for certain investment contracts involving crypto assets. This move is seen as a positive step towards greater clarity for market participants, following an interpretation issued by the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission in March.
