Bitcoin Surges Above $86,000 as Institutional Demand Drives Growth
Bitcoin's price continues to rise, surpassing $86,000 on Wednesday and increasing by over 6% in just one week. Strong institutional demand is driving this growth, with US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) seeing inflows of more than $714 million on Tuesday alone.
This follows nearly $1 billion in positive flows the previous day, demonstrating a consistent trend of investor interest in the world's largest cryptocurrency.
According to Santiment, Bitcoin has outperformed both the S&P 500 and gold since mid-August, with its market capitalization rising by 36% over this period. In contrast, the S&P 500 has seen a gain of just 0.8%, while gold has declined by 1.5%.
As Bitcoin's price continues to break through key resistance levels, analysts are warning that excessive trader optimism may lead to a short-term shakeout. However, with ongoing strong demand and liquidity conditions improving, the cryptocurrency's relative strength is likely to persist in the near term.
