Bitcoin Surges Amid US Sanctions on Iranian Exchange
Bitcoin (BTC) rose by 1.61% to $81,619 on September 21, maintaining its bullish momentum and trading above key moving averages.
The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned Tehran-based exchange BitBank for transferring hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Accompanying sanctions against BitBank's software developer, Pishtaz Simorgh, and parent company, Dot One, reinforce strict US oversight with implications for market participants connected to sanctioned entities.
Despite heightened regulatory scrutiny on certain exchanges, Bitcoin continues to demonstrate technical resilience with further upside potential if price decisively clears the $85,334 threshold.
