Bitcoin Surges as Quantum Fears Fail to Dent Price
Bitcoin's price rose by about 1.6% to around $63,700 on August 4, despite concerns over quantum computing.
The increase came after CNBC host Jim Cramer said he planned to sell his Bitcoin holdings due to worries about the threat of quantum computers.
Cramer made the comment in an interview with IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, who stated that investors should become 'paranoid' about cryptocurrency security within three to four years.
Krishna's warning was based on Google's estimate that fewer than 500,000 physical qubits could eventually break widely used elliptic curve cryptography.
Glassnode found that around 1.92 million Bitcoin, or 9.6% of the supply, is structurally exposed to quantum attacks due to publicly visible public keys.
