Bitcoin Surges Near $65,000 But Trims Gains Amid Equity Weakness
Bitcoin's price surged near $65,000 on August 19 but quickly trimmed some of its gains to trade at $64,318.69, a 0.36 percent increase over the last 24 hours and 0.87 percent in a week.
Nischal Shetty, founder at WazirX, stated that 'global risk conditions remained broadly manageable despite weakness in equities.' Crypto remained relatively stable during the equity pullback, highlighting continued participation and suggesting investors maintained digital-asset exposure.
Institutional demand improved as US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $297.6 million in the latest session, recovering much of the $389.7 million outflow from the previous week.
Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst at Delta Exchange, noted that 'the next trigger could come from the FOMC minutes.' Changes in rate expectations, Treasury yields or the dollar could determine the next move, and buyers have regained ground but BTC still needs to hold above resistance to confirm further upside.
