Bitcoin Surges Near $80K Amid Strong Institutional Interest
Bitcoin's price is trading near $78,900, just below the $80,000 mark, following a strong rally from the mid-$60,000s. The recent surge in Bitcoin's price can be attributed to significant institutional interest in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have seen $336 million in inflows on August 25, totaling $2.08 billion over the past week.
The open interest in Bitcoin derivatives has climbed toward $58 billion, signaling new capital entering the market. However, technical indicators like the RSI above 80 and a flattening MACD suggest the rally may be overextended, with key support levels at $77,573 and $76,227 watched closely for potential pullbacks.
Additionally, Bitcoin options worth $6.44 billion will expire on Deribit at 08:00 UTC Friday, which could potentially boost volatility near the $80K price level. The largest concentrations are at $75,000 and $80,000 strike prices, close to Bitcoin's current market price.
