Bitcoin Surges Past 18 Ounces of Gold as Fiscal Arithmetic Drives Debasement Thesis

Bitcoin's price has dipped to around $80,724 after a modest 0.93% decline over the past 24 hours, but this slight pullback doesn't detract from a larger trend that's unfolding in relation to gold.

The current ratio of Bitcoin to gold stands at approximately 18.17 ounces of gold per one Bitcoin, marking the richest ratio since January, according to TradingView figures.

This development is not driven by yield curves or rate-cut odds, but rather by fiscal arithmetic. Major advanced economies are carrying debt-to-GDP ratios above 100%, with the U.S. leading in primary deficit once interest payments are stripped out.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's recent statement at the G20 finance ministers' meeting that 'the world is awash in debt... and the only way for us to get out of this is to grow our way out of this' has been seized upon by SkyBridge Capital's Anthony Scaramucci as a 'Bitcoin ad of the year.'
