Bitcoin Surges Past $70,000 Amid Regulatory Optimism and Short Liquidations

Bitcoin has broken above $70,000 for the first time since early June, as traders respond to falling US bond yields and renewed regulatory optimism in Washington. The cryptocurrency's price surge coincided with billions of dollars in forced short liquidations and a technical break above key resistance levels.

The rally was attributed to several factors, including the US Treasury's decision to increase its purchases of longer-dated government bonds, which pushed long-term yields lower. This move made riskier assets more appealing by easing financial conditions and reducing the relative attractiveness of government debt.

Bitcoin wasn't the only asset responding to the Treasury announcement, as stocks, bonds, and gold also rallied, while the dollar weakened. Additionally, President Donald Trump urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act, which aims to establish clearer rules for digital assets and determine how regulatory responsibilities are divided between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

However, a viral claim of 'coordinated manipulation' emerged on social media, suggesting that major exchanges were working together to move Bitcoin's price. The post claimed Coinbase bought 6,139 BTC, Binance 4,061 BTC, an unnamed insider 4,036 BTC, and others, but failed to provide credible evidence supporting these allegations.
