Bitcoin Surges Past $70,000 as Politics, Liquidity, and Institutional Money Drive Crypto Rally
The crypto market has experienced a significant surge in recent days, with Bitcoin briefly reaching $70,000 for the first time since early June. The largest cryptocurrency is currently trading at around $69,671, representing an eight percent gain within 24 hours.
Ethereum also saw substantial gains, increasing by 17.6 percent to about $2,254. This move is attributed to a combination of factors, including politics, liquidity, and institutional money.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act was discussed at the White House, with U.S. President Donald Trump urging Congress to pass a fair version of the bill. The Senate's Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott expressed optimism about the bill's chances of advancing in September.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent doubled the size of the Treasury Department's bond buyback operations, providing liquidity and supporting risk assets. Institutional money also played a role, with U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs taking in $517 million in a single day, their strongest reading since early May.
