Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 on Institutional Demand and US Debt Concerns

Bitcoin has broken through the $80,000 mark and established a new trading phase. According to Andy Bell, Director of Asset Management at GSR, this price level marks a substantial shift in the underlying market structure.

On Monday, Bitcoin briefly touched $81,272, marking the first test of this key level since May. The recent surge has also been driven by institutional demand, with U.S. Bitcoin spot ETFs recording nearly $2 billion in net inflows over five consecutive trading days.

The current rally enjoys relatively broad-based support, as indicated by rising options activity and perpetual contract funding rates. However, the price action is more influenced by U.S. debt burdens than pure crypto policy dynamics, according to Robbie Mitchnick, Head of Digital Assets at BlackRock.
