Bitcoin Surges Past $81,000 Amid Crypto Sentiment Shift
Bitcoin's recent surge to over $81,000 has left investors wondering if the cryptocurrency can hit $100,000 by the end of the year.
The price increase is largely attributed to a change in investor sentiment following a high-level crypto event at the White House on August 19th. President Donald Trump announced his support for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act and hinted that the U.S. government might start accumulating Bitcoin for its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
As a result, money started flowing back into spot Bitcoin ETFs, which recorded their best week since October 2025.
Data from prediction markets suggests that while there's still a possibility of Bitcoin reaching $100,000 by the end of the year, it's not very likely. According to Kalshi, traders are giving Bitcoin only a 25% chance of ending the year above $100,000.
