Bitcoin Surges Past $84,000 Amid Oil Price Drop and ETF Inflows
Bitcoin surged past $84,000 on Sunday, its highest level this month, after a fourth consecutive day of declining international oil prices and robust inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lifted risk assets across equities and cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum, Solana, and other major altcoins also advanced broadly, with Monero rising 13% on the day, Dogecoin up 5%, and Ripple gaining 4%. Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Hyperliquid each rose approximately 3%.
Strategy founder Michael Saylor hinted at another accumulation, with total holdings now at 845,050 BTC. Galaxy Digital Head of Research Alex Thorn noted that Bitcoin's weekly close reclaimed its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks, a signal historically associated with bear-market bottom confirmation.
Geopolitically, Iran presented negotiation terms to Washington, and Donald Trump signaled openness to a meeting, though the Saudi-Houthi conflict remains a risk. This week's key events include Fed official speeches, PMI data, and the Trump-Xi summit.
