Bitcoin Surges Past $86K Amid Bullish Market Shifts, Institutional Demand
Bitcoin has surpassed $86,000 after a prolonged period of consolidation. The recent price surge is attributed to a combination of factors, including a bullish shift in long-term market structure and increased demand from institutional investors.
According to CryptoQuant's Bull Score, which measures the market's internal state using on-chain data and other metrics, the score has climbed to 80, indicating a bullish trend. This is particularly significant given that the score entered bullish territory in mid-August, coinciding with Bitcoin's breakout above its 365-day moving average.
The relationship between long-term holder selling and new demand is also worth noting. CryptoQuant reports that approximately 539,000 BTC were sold by long-term holders at prices around $77,100, $80,200 this year. However, the fact that Bitcoin has recovered beyond this price range suggests that there was sufficient buying demand to absorb the selling.
While these factors contribute to a bullish outlook, there are also concerns about short-term overheating and high interest rates. The Federal Reserve's recent rate hike, coupled with elevated open interest in futures markets, may lead to forced liquidations and subsequent selling pressure.
