Bitcoin Surges Past $87,000 Amid Global Market Gains and Inflation Concerns
Bitcoin's price surged past $87,000 on Monday, reaching an intraday high of $87,397 before closing at $86,593. This marks a nearly 7% increase from the previous day and a return to levels last seen in January 2026.
The rally came as global stocks and bonds reported significant gains, while lower oil prices and the planned summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping lifted market sentiment.
Mudrex's head of business, Pratik Gupta, attributed the favorable risk environment and short covering to the rally. CoinGlass reported liquidations of long and short positions across crypto totaling $1 billion in 24 hours, the highest since August.
