Bitcoin Surges Past $87,000 as Institutional Funds Flood In
The price of Bitcoin briefly broke through the $87,000 level on September 22, 2026, reaching as high as $87,200 before settling in the range of $85,000 to $86,000. According to Aloysia Dian, Chief Marketing Officer at INDODAX, this surge was driven by multiple factors.
The entry of institutional funds is one key driver. Data from SoSoValue shows that spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US recorded a net inflow of around $1.591 billion on September 17-21, 2026. Additionally, Strategy bought 950 BTC worth around $75.7 million between September 14-20.
The regulatory environment is also playing a role. The SEC issued a temporary policy that opens up more space for trading tokenized stocks through blockchain technology, which is seen as strengthening the perception of blockchain technology in the traditional financial system.
Aloysia advises investors to be aware of global economic dynamics and interest rate policies that can affect market direction. She cautions against making decisions based solely on short-term price momentum and reminds traders to understand risk management and do their own research.
