Bitcoin Surges Past $87K in $919M Short Squeeze, Remittix Gains Momentum
A powerful short squeeze pushed Bitcoin's price beyond $87,000 in a 24-hour period, erasing nearly $919 million in bearish crypto positions. This move was largely driven by exchanges automatically closing short positions as they were triggered, which in turn drove the price higher and led to additional closures.
The strong demand from ETF inflows and institutional purchases helped solidify the rally's base, suggesting that derivatives activity may not have carried the entire weight of the movement. Bitcoin later eased towards $85,700, with $87,500 and $90,000 serving as significant resistance levels.
Remittix, a project building momentum around its PayFi presale, is gaining attention for its near-complete presale status and multi-product ecosystem. The project's ability to provide payment services through more than 30 fiat currencies could remain relevant regardless of market direction.
