Bitcoin Surges to $86K: Will Prices Reach $95k Next?
The Bitcoin price surged to its highest level in eight months, reaching $86,332 on Monday. This move is seen as a continuation of the upward trend that started near $62,000 on August 17 and brought the price back above $80,000 in just a month.
Despite being about 30% below its October 2025 record high of over $126,000, there's still significant room for growth. The cryptocurrency has seen a decline of less than 3% this year, leaving ample space between the current price and previous highs.
A recent short squeeze in the market saw many investors who had bet against Bitcoin's rise forced to sell their positions as the price increased. According to CoinGlass data, $877 million in cryptocurrency transactions were made in the last 24 hours, with over 84% of that total coming from the sale of previously held positions.
While some experts are optimistic about the market's potential for further growth, caution is advised due to the asset being heavily shorted. The Bitcoin price is currently testing a resistance zone, and breaking through it could lead to prices potentially rising as high as $95,000 before another significant level of volume is reached.
