Bitcoin Surges to $87,000 as 15 Altcoins Prepare for Token Unlocks
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a surge in value, with Bitcoin reaching $87,000 for the first time in a while. The current price of BTC is $85,004, having gained 0.58% in the last week. This increase is largely attributed to the release of US economic data, which showed worse-than-expected figures, reducing the likelihood of a Fed interest rate hike in October.
However, the market is also facing significant token unlocks across numerous altcoins in the coming week. According to a specially prepared schedule, 15 altcoins will unlock tokens between October 4 and October 11, 2026. The unlocks will release a total of $121.51 million in tokens, with the largest unlock being $56.71 million for NAME on October 9, 2026.
The token unlocks will be spread across various dates and times, with some occurring at 3:00 AM and others at 11:00 AM or 5:00 PM. The largest market value among the affected altcoins is Ethereum (ENA), which has a market value of $2.36 billion. Other notable altcoins include Lagrange (LA), Succinct (PROVE), Power Protocol (POWER), and GoldFinger (GF).
The token unlocks will likely have a significant impact on the cryptocurrency market, and investors should be cautious when making investment decisions. Analysts have predicted that the market will be affected by these unlocks, but the extent of the impact is still unknown.
