Bitcoin Surges to Fourth-Highest Daily Transaction Count

Bitcoin's daily transaction count reached its fourth-highest level ever on September 7, 2026, with 893,391 confirmed operations. This surge in activity more than doubled compared to the same day in 2025 and grew by 23.4% from the previous session. The network processed nearly 80% of transactions below 0.01 BTC, according to CryptoQuant data.

The daily transaction count surpassed 99% of all historical readings recorded to date, with Galaxy Research noting that no specific event or protocol was responsible for the increase. YCharts also reported a 23.4% increase in transactions compared to the previous day, while Blockchair's data showed that the network had already processed 862,979 transactions on June 23, 2026, representing the third-highest historical record.

CryptoQuant linked much of the growth to low-value transfers, with operations below 0.01 BTC accounting for approximately 80% of total transactions in 2026, up from 44% recorded in 2023. Julio Moreno, CryptoQuant's head of research, clarified that the economic value of these operations remains low relative to their share of the total.
