Bitcoin Technical Trend Turns Bullish Again Amid Strong Setup
Bitcoin's technical structure and market demand are turning increasingly bullish, according to James E. Thorne, chief market strategist at Wellington-Altus.
The long-term uptrend in Bitcoin has remained intact despite a correction following its peak in 2025, as the cryptocurrency pulled back toward its rising 200-week moving average but stayed above it.
Thorne pointed to a shift in Bitcoin's medium-term momentum, with the 30-week and 40-week exponential moving averages transitioning from declining to rising trends after the low recorded in June. This signals a transition in the medium-term outlook from bearish to bullish.
Weighing in on the broader market structure surrounding Bitcoin, Thorne noted developments involving GENIUS regulations and tokenization are helping move Bitcoin and the wider digital asset ecosystem beyond a primarily speculative role and toward greater integration with financial-market infrastructure. The strategist highlighted the growing use of regulated stablecoins, tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds, and on-chain consensus systems as examples of this structural shift.
Thorne also cited the U.S. presidential cycle and macroeconomic conditions as adding to the bullish case for Bitcoin. Historically, stock markets have entered periods of strong performance during this stage of the four-year presidential cycle, and macroeconomic conditions are beginning to become more supportive for Bitcoin, with improving productivity, wages, and manufacturing employment.
