Bitcoin Trades Steady Ahead of July CPI Report
Bitcoin's price remained relatively stable on Wednesday, trading just above $63,600, as investors waited for the release of July's Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. The report showed inflation cooling to a 3.4% annual rate, easing from June's 3.5% pace and matching economists' expectations.
The CPI data is closely watched by Federal Reserve officials, who will use it to inform their interest rate policy decisions ahead of the September policy meeting. Interest rate increases tend to weigh on non-yielding assets like Bitcoin, but softer inflation data reduces the likelihood of further tightening, making it a supportive factor for the cryptocurrency.
The current trading range of $63,000 to $65,000 is in sharp contrast to Bitcoin's performance just months earlier, when it reached an all-time high of $126,198.07 on October 6, 2025. The price has declined by roughly 50% from that peak.
