Bitcoin Transactions Get Quantum-Resistant at 1/5 the Cost
A significant breakthrough has been achieved in making Bitcoin transactions quantum-resistant, reducing the estimated computing cost to construct such a transaction from $320 to approximately $67.
This collapse of nearly 79% in just one week is attributed to an open optimization competition that paired human developers with AI coding systems to accelerate the GPU-intensive work behind Quantum-Safe Bitcoin (QSB), an experimental defense mechanism designed to protect funds if quantum computers become capable of breaking Bitcoin's elliptic-curve signatures.
The sharp reduction stems from a collaboration between StarkWare, Yukon Research, and Eigen Labs, which launched the Quantum-Safe Bitcoin Optimization Challenge on Sept. 16, inviting developers, researchers, and AI agents to refine the transaction-generation pipeline.
