Bitcoin Trapped in Head & Shoulders Pattern as Ethereum Breaks Out
Bitcoin's price chart is currently displaying a classic 'Head & Shoulders' pattern, a technical indicator of potential market reversal. According to TechCharts analyst Aksel Kibar, this setup could be the only reason for short-term optimism among bulls at the beginning of August.
The pattern shows Bitcoin hovering near $63,382, forming the right shoulder of the 'Head & Shoulders' formation. This comes after a significant decline from May highs above $81,000 and a nervous search for a bottom near $57,000.
Ethereum, on the other hand, has already completed this journey in the ETH/BTC pair, establishing itself in an uptrend and moving toward the technical target of 0.0312. This liquidity rotation is draining Bitcoin of volume needed for a quick start.
The price action over the next few days will decide whether Bitcoin follows Ethereum's breakout or validates the bears' predictions. If it fails to assault the neckline at $67,200, bears will regain control and send Bitcoin toward support levels at $60,000 and $58,000.
