Bitcoin Trapped in Narrow Range as Long-Term Holders Consolidate
Bitcoin's price remains within a narrow range as it tests the $62,000 support level. According to the UTXO Realized Price Distribution, approximately 1.79 million BTC, or 8.93 percent of the circulating supply, has a cost basis between $62,000 and $65,000. The largest concentration of these holdings sits at around $63,800.
This concentration is keeping the price stagnant because holders are moving coins between profit and loss positions at these levels. Long-term holder supply fell by 210,000 BTC from its July 29 peak of 16.82 million BTC, marking the first weekly drop of 2026. Most of these coins belonged to the youngest members of the long-term holder cohort.
The Altcoin Cycle Signal flipped to altcoin season on September 21 due to a rally that spread gains across the top 250 altcoins. Implied volatility remains low, with the 30-day index at 33.8 as of August 8. Despite institutional accumulation and ETF inflows reaching $1.3 billion over five recent trading sessions, Bitcoin still trades below the short-term holder cost basis of $68,700.
