Bitcoin Tumbles Below $76k as Senate Rejects Clarity Act
Bitcoin fell below $76k on Wednesday as the U.S. Senate voted down the Clarity Act, a regulatory bill aimed at establishing a framework for cryptocurrencies in the United States.
The Senate's decision came after a slim 49-50 vote, with most Republicans supporting the measure but falling short of the necessary majority.
Bitcoin prices plummeted by 1.8% to $75,893.1 as a result, while other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Ripple also saw significant losses.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that U.S. regulators could still create comparable regulations for crypto without Congressional approval, but these would be vulnerable to changes in the political climate.
