Bitcoin Volatility Hits Record Low Amid Bond Yield Surge
Bitcoin's price volatility has hit an all-time low, sparking concerns about a potential sharp move in the market over the next two months. The analysis found that after similar past periods of sideways trading, the median price move over the following 60 days was around 30%. This could be triggered by a rapid rise in global government bond yields, which could act as a catalyst for a large move in Bitcoin prices.
According to Sean Farrell, Fundstrat's head of digital asset strategy, Bitcoin has been trading sideways since June after falling about 50% from its October peak last year. Over the past month, its price action has been among the narrowest in its history.
A sharp rise in bond yields could push Bitcoin's price sharply higher or lower, with a 30% move possible over the next two months. Farrell stressed that this does not necessarily mean gains for investors, and that the market could react negatively to rising bond yields.
