Bitcoin Wallets Get Quantum-Proof Protection Proposal
Researchers at AmericanFortress have proposed a cryptographic system that could allow Bitcoin and other blockchain wallets to withstand future quantum attacks without changing existing wallet addresses. The system, titled 'ZKPoSP: Post-Quantum Zero-Knowledge Proofs for Hierarchical Deterministic Wallets,' would replace traditional elliptic curve digital signature algorithms (ECDSA) with a more secure alternative.
The team's solution aims to address the growing concern of quantum attacks on Bitcoin and other blockchain networks. As computing power continues to advance, researchers warn that future quantum computers could potentially break ECDSA-based cryptography used in many wallets today.
The proposed system would enable users to protect their assets without altering their existing wallet addresses, making it a more feasible solution for widespread adoption.
