Bitcoin Weekly Chart Flips Bullish Amid Policy Mistakes
Bitcoin's weekly chart has turned bullish for the first time since June, according to Wellington-Altus Chief Market Strategist James E. Thorne. The 30-week and 40-week moving averages have flipped from down to up, a change that signals an end to the bearish intermediate trend. This is significant because it suggests that Bitcoin's price has recovered from its decline in June.
Thorne points out that the pullback from the 2025 high found support at the rising 200-week average, keeping the long-term uptrend intact. He links this setup to the GENIUS Act, tokenization, and the Federal Reserve's rate hike as a 'policy mistake'. The market is changing, with Bitcoin and other digital currencies moving out of a purely speculative cycle and into the plumbing of the financial system.
Thorne believes that this cycle is different from previous ones. He points to tokenized Treasuries, on-chain settlement, and regulated stablecoins as evidence of a structural bid improving in the market. The calendar also helps, with markets entering the strongest part of the four-year presidential cycle, which has historically seen the best equity returns.
